Adding a Purge Valve to Your Mask

Snorkel-Mart offers a very unique service, we can install a purge valve in just about any mask (we do not recommend installing purge valves in kids masks).

What is a Purge Valve?
A purge valve is a small one-way silicone valve. When installed in a mask it will allow water to drain out of the mask, but will not allow water back into the mask. We install the purge valve in the silicone skirt right underneath the nose (where the nostrils are). If you were to get any water in your mask, all you would need to do is gently press the mask against your face and exhale through your nose. Any water that was in the mask would be expelled through the purge valve.

Do I need a Purge Valve?
Actually no, the majority of snorkelers will not need a purge valve. As long as you have a good seal, there is no reason to compromise the mask by adding a purge valve. However, a purge valve is a very good solution for snorkelers who have a mustache.

Purge valves can be installed in our masks for a fee of $3.50.
